It doesn't matter where your computer is located - in your home or office, you will have a more reliable and more durable PC if you regularly clean it from dust. A clean PC works more quietly, since the fans do not work at full power and dust does not complicate their work. A dust-free computer does not heat up, increasing both reliability and the service life of the components inside it. The blades of the cooler are made in such a way that the air flow blows the parts of the motherboard as efficiently as possible.
When we say clean, we don't mean a dusted system unit, we mean real clean - the outer casing and internal hardware. Poor heat dissipation from radiators. A cooler is almost always installed on the radiators of the processor and video card. Over time, it clogs the slots of the radiator with dust, which prevents heat dissipation. There is a risk of damage to parts. The dust that settles on PC parts eventually turns into a solid layer. Slow and unstable processor operation. The computer begins to work more slowly when the temperature of the processor rises to a dangerous level. The reason is usually a very dirty radiator and cooler.
How to get rid of dirt on your computer?
Before cleaning, do not forget to turn off the power to the system unit and individual components of the computer. When starting to clean the computer from dust, you should be armed with things like a screwdriver to remove the cover and disconnect some components. For more dirty parts, an ordinary brush is suitable. It is also good to have a compressor at hand, for blowing out hard-to-reach places with compressed air.
Motherboard. Some motherboards are equipped with a cooler, but this does not mean that all dust will collect in the radiator. The epicenter is actually the dirt around the processor. Not only the processor cooler is blown, but also the components located around it.
Processor. The CPU heatsink is also exposed to dust, which effectively blocks heat dissipation. It is equipped with many small elements and is the perfect place for dust. In the case of a less contaminated cooler, compressed air will be sufficient. But in most cases, it is necessary to disconnect the radiator from the cooler and clean both elements. Before disconnecting the cooler from the processor, make sure you have thermal paste on hand.
Video card. Although the fan is mounted on the bottom of the video card, it also collects dust effectively. Compressed air should be enough to clean it. Please do not forget to clean not only the radiator, but also the blades of the cooler.
Power Supply. You should start cleaning from it, as it is the main place of dust accumulation. As a rule, you do not need to disassemble it. Blow well with compressed air through the holes in the case, on all sides. Sometimes this operation may not be enough. Pay attention to the cooler of the power supply unit. If the blades are covered with a layer of dirt, I recommend unscrewing the block cover and cleaning the dirt with a brush.
Replacement of thermal paste. Thermal paste is designed to improve heat transfer from the processor to the radiator of the cooler. The problem is that thermal pastes lose their properties over time. Take a clean piece of cloth and clean the adjacent parts from the remnants of the old paste. Then take a tube of paste and carefully apply a new layer, note that the layer should not be thick enough, because the radiator of the cooler fits tightly to the processor. Make sure that there is no contact of thermal paste on the parts of the motherboard. Carefully attach the cooler to the processor.
